“I started working at WarrenCare 16 years ago as a Coordinator but had previously worked here two years before that as a Care Worker. After a year of working as a Coordinator I went back to working in the community as I missed working with the service users on a daily basis and I enjoyed the flexibility that the role brought to my family life.
After three years I was ready for another challenge and so came back into the office as a Reviewing Officer, in which I was responsible for visiting service users and checking that they were happy with their care packages. I also worked with staff ensuring that they were working within the policies and this gave me the taste for and basic skills that I needed in order to become a trainer.
Two years after this I became an NVQ Assessor, supporting and coaching our staff to gain qualifications in health and social care and I started to assist the Training Department by delivering small group sessions for them. A year later I took up a fulltime position in training and I am now responsible for delivering the Care Certificate to all new staff whilst also ensuring exisiting staff are kept up to date with their knowledge and practice, attending mandatory training that is delivered by myself.
Even though I work full time in training, I still enjoy and often help out working in the community as a care worker as I understand the vital role that our care workers deliver and want to support them”.
